Kevin Pietersen to hold crunch talks with England coach Andy Flower

The 32-year-old was left out of England's side for the third Test against South Africa last month after sending text messages to opposition players, reportedly about his team-mates, and it remains unclear if he will ever play for England again.

Pietersen has since admitted to sending ?provocative texts to close friends in the South Africa team? and apologised to former England captain Andrew Strauss.

Strauss quit from international cricket following the Test series defeat to South Africa last week, with Alastair Cook taking over, but pointed out it had nothing to do with the Pietersen saga.?

Cook will not be included in the early discussions with Pietersen but is expected to get involved in the 'coming weeks' to act on behalf of the England team.?

Pietersen starred for Surrey in the County Championships on Tuesday, when he scored 163, half of his side's final total.

England have time on their side regarding the Pietersen saga as they do not need to name their Test squad for their upcoming tour of India until early October.?

However, managing director of England cricket Hugh Morris wants to resolve the situation sooner rather than later and is trying to move things along behind close doors and will meet with Pietersen?s advisers if things go well today.?
