Analyst: Sony Did Well, Microsoft Has To "Bring Their A-Game"

They didn't give us a date or price, and they didn't even show us the system. And yet, last night's PlayStation Meeting made a really good impression.

For instance, take the reaction of Cowen and Company senior analyst Doug Creutz, who told NowGamer that the competition should be concerned about what Sony presented. Specifically, he said Microsoft will have to "bring their A-game" and Nintendo should be "worried."

Creutz said that Microsoft has the "pole position" simply based on their current-generation standing (and we assume he means in this country, as the PS3 has surpassed the 360 in terms of worldwide sales). However, he thinks Sony did a "good job" as they definitely appealed to core gamers who will be considering an upgrade:

I think Sony made a very strong pitch to gamers last night that the PS4 is a worthwhile upgrade from the PS3. They have yet to make that pitch to a broader audience, which will entail giving more detail on their strategy on the multimedia side."

The analyst added that in comparison to the Wii U, the PS4 "really does look like a next-gen console" and Nintendo might want to be concerned. In grading the entire presentation, Creutz gives Sony an A-/B+, which sounds about right. PSXE would give it an A-, if you asked us. :)
